About Us

Born from need, built on purpose

Bridge Builders Women and Girls Initiative was founded to protect vulnerable populations from exploitation and to provide access to life-saving support that empowers and uplifts. Established in 2020, we serve as a vital link connecting the marginalised to essential services, knowledge, and opportunity.

Our primary focus is women, girls, children, and youth — communities that are often overlooked, underserved, and underrepresented. We believe in changing that — permanently.

Our Foundation

Vision & Mission

Our Vision
A world of equal access and shared dignity

We envision a world where every person — regardless of gender, location, or circumstance — has equal access to life-saving support and is empowered to contribute meaningfully to the development of their society. No one left behind. No voice left unheard.

Our Mission
Empowering the marginalised, protecting the vulnerable

To empower and protect marginalised communities — particularly women and girls — by promoting integrated sexual health and reproductive services, education, youth engagement, peace-building, and ensuring access to safe water and sanitation. We do this through presence, partnership, and an unshakeable commitment to human dignity.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

These values are not just words on paper — they are the principles that guide every decision, every program, and every relationship we build.

Collaboration

We believe the most powerful change happens together. We work hand-in-hand with communities, partners, and stakeholders to multiply our impact.

Equality

Every individual deserves the same rights, opportunities, and respect. We champion equity in all we do — leaving no one out, no one behind.

Transparency

We operate with openness in all our dealings — with donors, communities, and partners. Trust is built through honesty, and honesty is non-negotiable.

Accountability

We hold ourselves to the highest standard. Every resource, every program, every outcome is tracked and reported — because the communities we serve deserve nothing less.

Areas of Focus

Thematic Areas

Our work is structured around six core thematic areas that address the most pressing challenges facing women, girls, and vulnerable communities in Nigeria.

Protection
Safeguarding women, children, and vulnerable groups from exploitation, abuse, and neglect through community-based protection systems.
WASH
Improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene — foundational elements of health and human dignity for every community.
Education
Expanding access to quality learning and vocational training, with a special focus on girls and women who face barriers to education.
Livelihood
Creating pathways to economic independence for women through skills training, enterprise support, and access to financial resources.
Food Security
Ensuring that vulnerable families — especially women-led households — have access to adequate, nutritious food and sustainable means of sustenance.
Climate Change
Empowering women and communities to understand, adapt to, and respond to the environmental challenges that disproportionately affect the most vulnerable.
Our Work

Ten Pillars of Change

Every program is rooted in listening deeply to the communities we serve, and responding with lasting, dignified, and sustainable solutions.

01
Advocacy and Awareness

We amplify voices that are too often silenced — championing policies, public conversations, and community awareness that protect the rights and dignity of women and girls across Nigeria.

02
Education and Skills Development

Through targeted learning programs and vocational training, we equip women and girls with tools to thrive — academically, professionally, and personally — on their own terms.

03
Economic Empowerment

We connect women to livelihood opportunities, mentorship, and financial resources that unlock independence — because economic freedom is the foundation of every other freedom.

04
Health and Reproductive Rights

We ensure women and girls have access to vital health education, family planning, parental care, and reproductive services — empowering informed, confident decisions about their wellbeing.

05
Combating GBV and Protection

We stand firmly against gender-based violence — offering survivor support, safe spaces, counselling, referral systems, and community interventions that protect the vulnerable.

06
Humanitarian Response and Community Development

In times of crisis, we show up. Bridge Builders mobilises relief, distributes resources, and rebuilds resilience — ensuring the most vulnerable women and families are never left behind.

07
WASH — Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

We engage communities to access clean water and adequate sanitation, while providing education on hygiene practices that prevent disease and restore dignity for women and girls.

08
Peace Building

We foster community dialogue, mutual understanding, and trust — providing training and resources that support peace-building initiatives in conflict-affected and fragile communities.

09
Gender Inclusion and Protection

We work to ensure that women, children, and marginalised communities are included in every aspect of community development and decision-making — with their rights and safety always protected.

10
Child Protection

We implement child protection policies, provide safe spaces, offer psychosocial support, and work with communities to strengthen the systems that keep children safe and in school.
